New Jersey NJSLA-A Math Practice and Guide
New Jersey Student Learning Assessment–Adaptive (NJSLA-A) Mathematics is the current adaptive Grades 3–8 assessment aligned to the 2023 New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Mathematics.

New Jersey public-school students in Grades 3–8 take NJSLA-A Mathematics during the statewide spring administration window.
2026–27 testing schedule
The 2027 statewide NJSLA-A administration window is April 19–May 21. Districts and schools choose local testing days inside that window.
Test structure and practice
NJSLA-A Mathematics uses adaptive delivery and two 75-minute units. Current blueprints publish exact operational totals: 41 items in Grades 3–5, 46 in Grades 6–7, and 43 in Grade 8. Mathematics items are machine scorable, without extended-response items.
TestByState matches the published grade-level totals in original fixed two-unit practice, but it does not reproduce adaptive routing or claim exact vendor-interface simulation. Practice percentages are not official NJSLA-A scores.
