How Tennessee TCAP Math subparts work
A parent guide to TCAP's three-subpart structure, calculator rules, official item ranges, and what original fixed practice can honestly represent.
TCAP Math uses three subparts
Current Tennessee assessment materials organize Grades 3–8 Mathematics into three subparts. TestByState preserves that useful practice rhythm without claiming to reproduce the secure operational form.
Subpart 1 is calculator prohibited
Calculator access is section-based. The first subpart is non-calculator, while the later subparts permit the grade-appropriate tool.
Official totals are published as a range
The blueprint publishes 37–42 operational items. TestByState uses 40 original questions as a disclosed product approximation and does not add field-test items.
Blueprint categories guide practice
Full Practice allocates questions across Tennessee's grade-specific reporting categories using the public percentage ranges. Topic Practice focuses one category at a time.
The 2027 window runs April 19–May 6
Districts choose local testing days inside the statewide window. Families should use school communication for the exact date.
