Independent state-specific mathematics practice
Virginia SOL Math and Growth Assessment Practice
Virginia mathematics testing includes fall and winter Growth Assessments and the spring Standards of Learning (SOL) assessment. TestByState supports Grades 3–8 using the 2023 Virginia Mathematics Standards of Learning.
Who takes Virginia SOL Math?
Virginia public-school students in Grades 3–8 take the spring SOL Mathematics assessment. State Growth Assessments provide instructional growth information in fall and winter; they are not presented here as pass/fail tests.
2026–27 testing schedule
The spring 2027 non-writing SOL window is April 5–June 17, with each school division selecting its local testing period. VDOE had not published a current 2026–27 Growth administration window when this page was reviewed, so families should confirm fall and winter dates with their school division.
Test structure and practice
Virginia's operational online mathematics tests use adaptive delivery. Fall Growth generally measures prior-grade content, while winter Growth measures current-grade content; Grade 3 is an exception under published guidance. Spring SOL and Growth blueprints are distinct.
TestByState Growth and SOL forms are original fixed-form practice informed by the applicable public blueprint. They do not reproduce Virginia's adaptive algorithm, and practice results are not official SOL or Growth scores.
