Independent state-specific mathematics information
Virginia Growth Assessments and spring SOL Math are different
A parent guide to what fall Growth, winter Growth, and spring SOL Mathematics measure—and why TestByState keeps their practice forms separate.
Growth Assessments support instructional information
Virginia administers Growth Assessments in fall and winter to provide information about student growth and instruction. TestByState does not market them as separate pass-or-fail tests and does not predict an official Growth score.
Fall Growth generally begins with prior-grade content
For Grades 4–8, published fall Growth blueprints are based on prior-grade content, with adaptive delivery able to present eligible content according to the official design. Grade 3 follows its separately published rule because there is no prior tested grade.
Winter Growth uses current-grade context
Winter Growth moves into current-grade content under its own blueprint and delivery rules. It should not be treated as a copy of the fall form or the spring SOL assessment.
Spring SOL uses a distinct blueprint
The spring Standards of Learning assessment measures the current grade's eligible SOL content. Its blueprint, reporting use, and preparation purpose differ from the fall and winter Growth Assessments.
Calculator availability is capability-based
Virginia calculator access can depend on grade, assessed content, and the individual question. TestByState uses configurable item/form capabilities rather than inventing MCAS-style calculator sessions.
TestByState uses separate fixed practice forms
Fall Growth, Winter Growth, and Spring SOL Practice are original fixed-form approximations informed by their applicable public blueprints. They do not reproduce TestNav or Virginia's operational adaptive algorithm.
